Importance of an ASE Certification

ASE stands for Automotive Service Excellence. The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence is an organization that provides testing and certification for automotive technicians. They are a non-profit organization that was established in 1972. There are roughly 420,000 auto repair professionals who have been tested and hold ASE certifications.

It's a proof that the auto mechanics are qualified to work on your vehicle. In order to obtain an ASE certification, the automotive technician must have taken and passed a comprehensive exam on the subject.

The ASE has over 40 different tests on specialized areas of automotive repair and maintenance. After passing the test, the auto mechanic must then prove that they have at least 2 years of related work experience. To make sure that repair technicians stay current, they must take a retest every 5 years to maintain their ASE-certified status.
